How Expensive is Panarea?

Panarea is the most exclusive of the Aeolian Islands. Prices are higher than the rest of the archipelago and above the Sicilian average — but with the right planning, you can experience Panarea without breaking the bank.

This guide covers all the real costs of a holiday in Panarea: from ferries to accommodation, restaurants to activities.

Ferries & Hydrofoils

Panarea is only accessible by sea. The most convenient departure point is Milazzo, reachable by train or car from Messina (45 minutes) or Palermo (2.5 hours).

Hydrofoil (Liberty Lines)

Milazzo → Panarea (one way) ~€18–25
Milazzo → Panarea (return) ~€36–50
Journey time ~1h 30min

Ferry (slower, cheaper)

Milazzo → Panarea (one way) ~€12–18
Journey time ~3–4 hours
Note: Prices vary by season and how far in advance you book. In high season (July–August) seats sell out fast — always book online in advance.

Accommodation

Panarea has limited accommodation. Booking 3–4 months ahead for July and August is essential.

High season
