Panarea is the smallest of the inhabited Aeolian Islands and one of the most exclusive in the Mediterranean. No cars are allowed: getting around means walking or using electric golf carts. The island is only accessible by sea, via hydrofoil or ferry from Milazzo, Messina, Palermo and Naples. The main season runs from May to September: booking in advance is essential, especially for July and August.
